Escape Room Mistakes: What to Avoid!

Tue, 13 Aug, 2019

Always remember that you need teamwork to accomplish the tasks. When you find yourself in an unfamiliar environment, it becomes effortless to experience stress and commit mistakes. So, think about these common mistakes and make sure not to repeat them.

Hoarding

In an Escape Room, you'll find hidden clues, keys, objects, and puzzle answers. When you find any of these items, make sure to share them with your friends!

Hoarding items on purpose or unintentionally can disrupt the flow of your team and hinder your chances of escaping the room. Your team needs to know what has been discovered or not! So everyone can stay in the loop and share the excitement!

Contributing too much or too little

Four to six is the magic number! Bringing too many players will literally step on each other's toes! Having too few players means you won't have enough eyes or opinions to navigate the game and exit the room.

Four players are just right. You have the ideal mix of skills and strengths to divide your team into two groups and delegate tasks effortlessly.

Enhance your escape room adventure. Steer clear of hoarding, overthinking, and lack of teamwork. Communicate, seek assistance, and escape like a pro!

Ask for help when you're stuck

Remember, pride comes before a fall. Don't let your pride stop you from asking the game master for help—that's what they're there for! If you're in a particularly challenging area of the room and the clock is ticking, simply ask for assistance. One hour goes by quickly!

Teamwork

Effective teamwork hinges on strong communication. It's no surprise that communication breakdowns often arise among players in escape rooms. How can you effectively work as a unit without actually talking to each other? Mind reading sounds great, but unfortunately, it's not real.

We need teamwork to escape the room. So, keep communicating with your team constantly to know what they're up to!

Overthinking clues

Some people spend too much time pondering over a single clue and end up questioning its usefulness. Don't make the mistake of thinking that every aspect of the room follows strict logic or requires pure intellect. Sometimes, the answer is staring you right in the face.
